WHY I CREATED THE HEART OF HOPE PLAN?
YEARS AGO I WAS SEEING A COUNSELOR AND WHILE IT WAS NICE HAVING A SAFE PERSON TO TALK WITH, TALKING JUST WASN'T ENOUGH FOR HEALING. THANKFULLY THIS COUNSELOR ENDED UP STARTING A GROUP DBT CLASS THAT TAUGHT ME HOW TO CHANGE MY THOUGHTS AND USE DISTRACTIONS FOR HEALING. IT ALSO GAVE ME AN INSIGHT TO HOW HURTS IN LIFE CAN AFFECT THE WAY PEOPLE SEE THEMSELVES.
OVER THE YEARS I HAVE BUILT ON THE FOUNDATION LEARNED IN THE DBT CLASS AND SPENT MORE TIME LEARNING ABOUT MYSELF. I STARTED MAKING FORMS TO FURTHER MY SELF-EDUCATION BECAUSE I KEPT FORGETTING ABOUT OTHER DISTRACTIONS THAT HELP ME BESIDES NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY AND WARM WATER OF WASHING DISHES. BY HAVING A NOTEBOOK WITH FORMS FOUND IN THE HEART OF HOPE PLAN, IT MAKES MY LIFE EASIER, MORE ORGANIZED, LESS FORGETFUL, AND EASIER TO HEAL.

BESIDES THE REASONS LISTED ABOVE, THE MAIN REASON WHY I STARTED MAKING FORMS FOR OTHERS IS SO THAT EVERYONE CAN HAVE ACCESS TO MATERIALS WHICH MAY HELP THEM. YEARS AGO, SOMEONE I CARE ABOUT WAS IN THE HOSPITAL FOR A THREE DAY OBSERVATION STAY AFTER AN UNSUCCESSFUL SUICIDE ATTEMPT. ON THE DAY OF RELEASE FROM THE HOSPITAL, A FOLLOW-UP COUNSELING APPOINTMENT WAS MADE AND THE SOONEST AVAILABLE WAS TWO WEEKS AWAY. I COULDN'T BELIEVE THAT A SUICIDAL PERSON WOULD NEED TO WAIT THAT LONG FOR AN APPOINTMENT. IT WAS A VERY SCARY AND STRESSFUL TIME FOR EVERYONE WHO LOVES THIS PERSON. I DON'T WANT OTHERS TO FEEL WHAT WE WENT THROUGH, AND TO NOT HAVE ANY MATERIALS/ADVICE ON HOW TO HELP A STRUGGLING LOVED ONE.
